A man and woman were fatally struck by lightning on a Mexican beach on Monday after a dangerous storm swept through.

Horrifying video shows the moment scorching lightning struck a beach in Michoacán as beachgoers packed up to leave as dark skies rolled in.

The blast hit the first person and caused them to fall into the sand.

A lightning strike flew through the sand and hit another person who was running for safety, video is circulating on social networks shows.

The impact caught the second victim and also caused them to fall face first into the sand.

The man was taken to hospital, where he later died. according to local outlet Marca.

Aquila Mayor Jose Valencia revealed that the female victim was visiting from Guanajuato, while the male victim was a hammock seller who lived in the nearby city of Colima. according to the Daily Mail.
