Zelenskyy arrived in the US on Monday and spent time visiting wounded Ukrainian soldiers in a New York hospital. He also plans to hold discussions with President Joe Biden and some members of Congress as he lobbies to support Biden’s proposals for the Ukraine aid package.

Ukraine denies NYT claim that deadly attack on city was friendly fire
Ukrainian officials on Tuesday vehemently denied a New York Times report that the Sept. 6 rocket attack on Kostiantynivka in eastern Ukraine that killed at least 15 civilians appeared to be a faulty Ukrainian missile. Ukraine’s security service said its investigation showed a Russian S-300 missile was to blame. The agency cited rocket fragments seized at the scene.
Zelenskyy blamed Russian “terrorists” for the attack, which sparked international outrage. But New York Times says security camera footage suggests the “tragic accident” was the result of a missile fired from Ukrainian-controlled territory. Missile fragments, satellite images and witness accounts “strongly suggest” that the missile was an errant Ukrainian air defense missile fired from Russia’s old-school Buk launch system, the Times said.
Ukraine will receive American Abrams tanks “soon”.
State-of-the-art M1 Abrams tanks committed to Ukraine by the United States will soon arrive in the combative country, Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin said Tuesday. Speaking at the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group in Germany, which brought together representatives from more than 50 countries, Austin said the US and other allies of Ukraine have committed more than $76 billion in aid to Ukraine’s defense. Kiev’s counteroffensive aimed at retaking territory seized by Russia “continues to make steady progress,” Austin said.
“The more Russia prolongs its war, the more egregious its cruelty,” Austin said. “Russian attacks have spread far beyond the battlefield and caused untold human suffering.”
